Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs

Z&Y Peking Duck Restaurant
SAN FRANCISCO’S TOP CHINESE RESTAURANT – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

FAQs

Booking a table is not the same as reserving a duck. Read below for detailed instructions.

How do I reserve Peking duck?

Z & Y Peking Duck serves only a limited number of ducks each day (about 30), so it is highly recommended that you reserve your duck well in advance. This applies to both dining in and ordering a takeout if you wish to enjoy their famed dish at home.

Online Booking (Preferred):
Book your table —and/or reserve your Peking duck by adding a note in the special request field—using our online reservation platform to select your date and party size. This is the fastest way to guarantee one of our 30 daily ducks.

Phone Reservation (Alternative):
Prefer to talk with us? Call (415) 986‑1899 and let us know you’d like to reserve a Peking duck. Because availability is limited, please mention the duck specifically so we can set one aside for you.

Group Size Consideration: For online bookings, we require reservations for a minimum number of guests (for instance, parties of 4 or more) when ordering the whole duck. Be sure to confirm this while you reserve your table if you’re planning to dine in.
Please note that for groups of ten, we can only reserve up to 2 whole Peking Ducks.

Special Instructions:
When making your reservation (whether by phone or online), explicitly state that you wish to reserve the Peking duck. This ensures that the restaurant can allocate the duck for your meal, as it may be prepared using a labor-intensive, 48-hour process (involving air-pumping, blanching, drying, and roasting) that is critical to achieving the dish’s signature crisp skin and succulent meat.

How do I book a party of two?

Please call our front desk (415) 986 1899 to inquire about reservations.

Is this the same menu as Z & Y Restaurant?

Z & Y Peking Duck is the sister restaurant of Z & Y Restaurant, located across the street respectively. We have a fully separate menu, so please double check your reservations and menu options for both locations.

Do you offer corporate dining or private dining options?

Yes we do. For more information please visit this page.

Is the menu gluten free?

We cannot accommodate gluten free requests at this time.

Do you offer any vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes, please see our menu and know we can swap any meat for tofu, and we offer a variety of already vegetarian and vegan options.

What are your operating hours?

• We are open from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM for lunch, and 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM for dinner, Monday through Sunday.
• We are CLOSED on Wednesdays but our sister restaurant Z & Y Restaurant is open on Wednesdays.

Do you have parking?

We do not have designated parking, but street parking is available but VERY limited. Only a 3 minute walk away is Portsmouth Square Parking Structure. Please bear in mind we do not offer validation, or have a standing agreement with the previously mentioned parking. Chinatown-Rose Pak Station is at 943 Stockton St, San Francisco, CA 94108. 5 mins walk to Z & Y Peking Duck.

Please read this article for parking options and thorough descriptions.
